Witch Please!

Channel a look worthy of The Craft with my latest wishlist - perfect for the modern witch!

Hey all, hope you all had a good weekend and got all Halloweeny themed!

I've been pretty lazy tbh the last couple of Halloweens and have done abit of dress up for work but not much else! This one happens to fall bang on my pay day (which totally and utterly sucks!) and it means I've had no monies to prepare get anything together for the day aside carving my pumpkin! booo! Was worth my last £2 to buy one though, can't be Halloween without one.

Luckily, I've also found an idea I can dress up as without spending anything as I have a few In Your Dreams face jewels left from Brighton Pride and have made myself a turban out of some excess tie dye fabric, abit of imagination later and I'm a tarot card reader for Halloween yay! :)  There won't be an outfit post on this one as its been a busy workday so I haven't had the time to shoot this but promise I will do try to do a Halloween themed post or two next year!

Whilst searching for ideas though I stumbled on these amazing witchy pretties and made this wishlist! Too good just to wear for Halloween! My faves are the Night Orb Leggings & Current Mood Boots! Whats yours? :)

1. Witchy Woman Ringer Tee - Gypsy Warrior | 2. Cat Muscle Tee - Valfre | 3. Rose Embroidered Velvet Jacket - Valfre | 4. Uniskelly Bag - Dolls Kill | 5. Mood Beast Platforms - Current Mood | 6. The Occult Midi Ring - The Rogue & The Wolf | 7. Coffin Silicon Phone Case - Valfre | 8. Orb Of The Night Leggings - Dolls Kill

Happy Halloween!

Snake Print Ballet Pumps & a Green Pini

First (of quite possibly a billion) Primarni outfits of this season, but when they are this cute though how could one resist?!
Green Jaquard Pini // Primark
Black Polo Neck Top // Primark
Snake Print Ballet Pumps // Primark

Admittedly I bought this dress again at the start of the month (sorrreeee) but I am only just getting round to wearing it now as I really wanted to wear it with my polo neck top that I couldn't find!

Its a really good one for workwear and Primark have loads of these beaut pinis in at the mo in different textures and colours, making it alot easier to transition in to a workwear A/W wardrobe without fearing its all boring plain jumpers and trousers.

I feel weird wearing dark colours now for winter but I really like how this pini brightens it up abit. I don't think aside from this I own anything else in green but I do love the colour!

Also to distract away from dark colours I've picked out my snake print ballet flats - a new workwear fave of mine! The ribbon ties are abit hidden over these reaaally dark thick tights but the snake print works well with the jaquard green I think, never be afraid to clash prints!

Medusa

Another slip dress? Its not just any old slip dress - spesh if its from Cyberdog!

Cyber Jellyfish Spaghetti Strap 90's "Medusa" Dress // Cyberdog

Yep its another 90's slip dress. sorry not sorry - its my fave thing to wear right now! *

I spotted this amazing slip whilst out in Brighton with my mum earlier this month in Cyberdog - one of mine (and in particular Rich's) fave places to shop in Brighton.

If you've not heard of Cyberdog and your more local to London than Brighton then head to Camden and check out what you've been missing, its the shop with the HUGE robots outside - u can't miss it. Or fail to hear it.. it will be blasting trance tunes all day long!

Most items will glow in the dark or have some kind of glow to them if you step under UV light, I was wearing my Ragged Priest jumper at the time when shopping  in there and all the tassels lit up! ah! :)

I just love the print on this dress though, Jellyfish are amazing and have always captivated me so I'm really happy to have a print of some - specially one this cool - at last. Its even got 90's style straps and everything!

Love, Sarah x

*yes, yes I know what you are thinking, I am freezing! Was particularly windy when I took these as well brrrrr! think we will be in sleeved stuff from now!! Blue lipstick would of looked good with this but I was more concerned with taking pictures asap and hurrying up to be in the warm haha!

Band Tee

Most underated item in your wardrobe? The band tee! Don't just wear with jeans, wear them with pleats or midi skirts for a whole new take on grunge chic.

Pretty Reckless Band Tee // Pulp (I got this from the Edinburgh store)
Silk Pleated Vintage Style Wrap Skirt // Traffic People

Ok, confession time, I have actually had this skirt for 13 YEARS!!

That's UNWORN for 13 years!  I bought it on a trip with my mum to Croydon one Saturday and had a few sorta romantic/girly ideas to dress it but then always felt it was a little too grown up for me. Yet its survived every charity shop, and ebay stuff-to-sell  bag and is the only item I've felt compelled to keep this long without any wear, however, I think I've now discovered a new way to wear it and make it feel less dressy...

Holla to the band tee! I got this one from a cool little shop in Edinburgh called Pulp which have a really good selection. I first saw the Pretty Reckless whilst they were supporting Evanescence and went straight out to buy the album straight away, also at the same I bought a Biffy Clyro t-shirt which I also saw when they supported Muse in 2007..must have a thing for the support acts! haha!

Band tee's, like the slogan tees, are often just thrown on with a pair of jeans though I've started to branch out recently and matched this one to my Traffic People skirt to experiment and love how this combo works!

Experiment with your slogan or band tees and mix up how you wear them - they are actually the most versatile piece of clothing you could possibly own!

Oriental Florals

**Sponsored post** I review Yoins for AW style and autumn wedding guest outfits!

Navy Floral Print Maxi // Yoins**
Grey Thigh High Boots // Primark

Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a good weekend!

Mine was pretty chilled and involved me and the boy having curry nite, going stationary shopping for Uni, cat sitting and cleaning! rock n roll! :)

I did manage to sneak in some time to visit one of my fave parks in Eastbourne though to shoot this stunning dress from Yoins before it rained! I couldn't resist shooting in front of the Hermitage building though I suppose the design of the building looks poss more Morrocan/Indian than chinese!

I adore the print on this dress, its really elegant and totally ideal for wearing to a autumn/winter wedding (If I had one to attend!) This dress was just £16 from Yoins website.

Not only is everything from Yoins totally wallet friendly and on trend, you can also pre-order new season garms ready for the new seasons as they approach!

The earlier you preorder you can also save moneys as you can get 50% off from the countdown to shipping on new release stuff, hurry though as the discount doesn't stay at 50% for long! I really like this feature.

New season at Yoins is full of pretty boho florals, off shoulder (yep that trend is sticking around for AW16 too!)  and my personal fave, sleeved maxi dresses - a must have for any fall wardrobe.

Here's my current wishlist all from Yoins, my favourite is the blue fluted sleeve mini dress. Great for workwear, the weekend or as wedding guest attire!

Whats you're favourite from my Yoins wish list?

A/W16 Beauty: Matte Lipsticks

Sorry, realised how LONG its been since I last did a beauty post (like, March!!)

oops.

Told ya I'm not to great when it comes to beauty blogging as I am one for literally stocking up on make up when its a new season and then buying nothing for months. I also don't tend to buy alot of make up during the summer as I'm mostly buying skin care stuff instead of whats on the make up counters.

So as I had not visited the beauty section in ages in my local Boots I popped down there a couple of weeks back to see whats new for autumn as this is the time of year I go crazy for make up and one thing in particular..LIPSTICKS!

However, I noted that a new trend seems to have popped up everywhere on Instagram and all over the counters are these new Matte Lipsticks. Naturally, the experimentalist in me decided to give these a go and I ended up with a few of them to try out and that's how this post came about.

So if your looking for an honest review by a make up nube on various Matte lipsticks and interested in what they are all about your're in the right place. If your are a super skilled young Instagram person who selfies religiously to show off your perfect cat-eye flick and take over 40 mins doing your brows to precision each day then this may not be the post for you. However if you do want to stick around to add a comment for any tips that would be muchly appreciated! :)

I mean this is most 16 year olds nowadays.. heres me back then VS the nowadays 16 year old. Hello my hella dyed red hair and fave blue sparkly eye shadow! Back then there was no selfie lighting, primer, eye brow stuff, insta filters... nadda.zero, zilch.

Now at 28 I have finally discovered what foundations work for me, how to not wear bright blue eye shadow up to your brow bone and not over pluck eyebrows...I'm still getting there though! I still feel pretty daft surrounded by all these mini make up experts who haven't left school yet but will prob read this and howl with laughter at my mistakes I was making then & still now! :) As I said earlier, tips are most welcome but here is how I got on with Matte Lipsticks...

  1. NYX Lip Lingerie in Embellishment
I bought this one not long after spotting it on the NYX counter in Boots...little did I know this shade is a fave amongst NYX fans and actually pretty hard to get hold of!

Out of all the Matte lippys I've tried this one by has the best packaging and looks like it could rival the sell out Kylie Jenner Lip kit.

However... Not so easy when it comes to application, although it seems easy enough and that you just apply it using the wand it comes with its actually very drying and comes out a totally different colour  to the swatch or how it appears on the tube..

Such a shame as it looks such a nice colour. I've seen other users of this shade also complain that this one looks more off-ish brown/claylike than the pinky brown shade it should be so I was glad to hear I'm not alone!

I've read tips though that to apply a matte lip it takes more than just slapping it on as per normal glosses or lipsticks.

Tips include:
  • applying over concealer on your lips to get a more even base
  • use concealer round the edges of your mouth to give a sharp clean finish once applied
  • exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate and moisturise. When these liquid matte lippy dry on your lips they can really highlight any cracks in your lips. Not a good look. Find out how you can make your own lip scrub here
Since discovering this I'll probably give this one another try to see if it makes a difference but feel its alot of effort to get this one to be of much use..spesh as it is already very drying to use and such an odd colour!

2. Sleek Matte Me Lip Creme in Velvet Slipper

Undeterred, I headed back down to Boots and picked out another Matte Liquid Lipstick, this time by Sleek Make up. I already use and worship Sleek for their fantastic dupe of Benefits Brow Zings (review on that another time)

I went for a even more pinkier colour as I didn't want to have the same situation as last time where the colour was off so I got the shade Velvet Slipper.

Again with this one it is a little drying but no where near as much as the NYX version. The colour is more as it should be and as expected though still a tiny bit darker than the tube again but more wearable than the NYX one.

The staying power on this one (and NYX Lingerie I have to say) is immense. I have never struggled to try and remove lipstick before but with these they simply do not budge after they have been applied! It took a fair bit of make up remover to take them off.

Obvs as a lipstick that's a very good thing. Less it wears off = the less it needs to be reapplied after eating, drinking ect and you end up getting more out of it as the product lasts longer.  So big thumbs up for that.

I'll def try the tips on how to apply above again with this one and give it a try!

3. NYX Full Throttle Lipstick in Kiss the Dust

At the same time as purchasing Lip Lingerie from the NYX counter, I also bought this one to try out.
It was abit of a spur of the moment purchase and I did wonder afterwards if I really needed to buy it as I was gonna love the Lip Lingerie more but actually, this turned out to be the opposite!

Although this one is not a liquid matte lipstick, it still gives you a matte effect but is much creamier and easy to apply.

The bullet is easy to use and glides on and unlike the liquid ones I've tried this does stay true to the colour. I did dare to choose a more brown shade and step out of my comfort zone deliberately as I never usually stray from my lovely plummy or maroon colours but I'm quite happy with it.

And as I say, much much less faff then using the liquid version!

4. Barry M Matt Lip Paint in 177 in Heart Breaker

After all my experimenting it wasn't till I popped to Superdrug and spotted this gorgeous shade from Barry M. They make incredible lipsticks called Lip Paint which you may of tried already which have always been a firm favourite of mine.

They have now extended their Lip Paint line up to also include Matte versions too. This in my opinion is the best of the 4 I've tried, its easy to apply, true to colour and as with all Barry M lippys not totally drying and long lasting as well! - result! :)

To summarise: If you are interested in trying Matte Lips I'd def go for it, but be wary of the type you choose and do you research in to the tried and tested ones out there if you want to go for a liquid lipstick in particular. I also swatched the liquid ones on my arms before applying and they still came out a totally different colour than I expected!

The liquid ones I'd recommend more for those who are really in to their make up and don't mind taking the time and effort to get the look right. I think if you can do that and are no fazed by how long it takes than Matte lips is gonna be your new best thing.

If your a lazy girl (like me!) and prefer a lie in and getting ready in under 10 mins than a creamier, bullet type of matte lipstick rather than a liquid one will probably be best if you want to try this look. :)

Have any of you tried the matte lip look? let me know your tips on applying below in the comments or what your fave matt lipsticks are! :)

Borrowed from the Boys

Robbed the boys closet for an oversized 90's street denim look! (sorry, not sorry!)

Oversized Denim Jacket // Bershka menswear (similar here)
Denim Rucksack // Primark
White Flatforms// Primark

This is a look I experimented with last week whilst I had time off work, I've always loved denim jackets but have this odd theory that blondes look better in them so have never owned one!

However, I pinched my fellas prized jacket, he wears double denim all the time and looks awesome doing so tbh (and yep, hes blond!) and I styled it up to see if I could be swayed and I quite like this one! think this is due to that its over sized though so it gives it an edgier street look as its obvs a little too big for me!

If I spot one in a charity or vintage shop that's a couple of sizes too big I may just get one now...a couple of patches and badges would make this jacket amazing, don't think Rich would be to pleased if I did that to his jacket though!

Best Bitches

Managed to get my paws on THAT Zara dress at last! Here's how I style it up for A/W

Tiered Raw Edged Denim Dress // Zara
Rainbow Tassel Knit // The Ragged Priest
Best Bitches Patch // Skinny Dip London
White Flatforms // Primark

It's been pretty chilly this week so it seems abit crazy to still be wearing summer dresses ... or is it?
My latest obsession lately is layering dresses over sleeved jumpers to get as much wear out of my summery gear as possible and get endless 90s vibes - always a good thing!

This bloggers fave dress from Zara sold out after it first hit the shelf's so unfortunately I missed it the first time round. Thankfully Ebay is a lifesaver in these situations and I managed to find one on there with its tags (and abit crumpled, soz i was too keen to wear it so will iron it later haha!) although I've had a little wait for it and summers passed its now mine! yay!

Its actually off shoulder but due to how I've styled this I've tucked the cute little off shoulder arm bits inside this dress for now so it can just be sleeveless for layering. I just love the raw hem on this. Denim in my opinion just always looks 100 times better when its been ripped or is frayed.

Also, I have done a small bit of customisation on it and added a patch at the top! I bought it from the Skinny Dip store in Carnaby Street earlier this year and have been waiting to add it on to something all this time and felt this dress was perfect for this patch. :)
