Free People

Floaty, Ruffles and Floral? This Free People Dress ticks all the new season trend boxes and more!

Purple Flower Ruffle Halter Dress // Free People - was £78 now £45!
Black Thigh High Boots // Sole Affair

I am no stranger to Free People Clothing having also got my wedding dress from their gorgeous boho wedding collection last year. They make such exquisite pieces, I just wish they were a tiney bit more affordable, I would love to have a wardrobe of all things from Free People!

Thankfully, Asos have also been stocking a few designs and I stumbled across this dress in their last season sale for under half price! Thinking this would be perfect for my mini break to the French Riviera in a few weeks time I snapped it up :) soo can't wait to get away!

By the time I'm over in France though in May I will hopefully be in my sandals catching some rays, having cast my thigh highs to the back of my wardrobe till later in the year! :)

Here is a closer look at my Free People Dress I wore for my wedding last October!

Believe it or not, I had never really thought about what wedding dress I had wanted ever. My wedding Pintrest board (admit it, you have one!) I had since before I even met Rich just had 2 pins on it of a couple of dresses but they were custom made or cosplay styled dresses which I wouldn't of had the time or budget to do on the short time I had to get things together before the wedding. I was torn between going for something glitzy and glam or something relaxed or wasn't sure if I actually wanted to wear traditional white.

I also have never really felt wedding dresses were very me, having walked past bridal shops before nothing has ever made me stop and go WOW and if anything they just made the whole wedding prospect feel more daunting and less personal.

I was really pleased to find though when I was shopping around that loads of online retailers have seen the gap and demand for less marshmallow dresses and have gone on to create their own ranges - at a fraction of the cost and not just in white - yes! :)

I saw Free People had just launched their own Bridal range full of boho style dresses that inspired my theme, and picked out the Carolyn dream dress because it was pretty, with gorgeous detailing , unique and was something I felt I could be comfortable and most importantly feel like its something I would choose rather then what a bossy wedding dress sales assistant might strap me in to!

The dress even included shorts underneath which made me feel less formal rather then having the pressure of being in a tight dress and glam make up worrying about how I look all the time instead of enjoying my day which is exactly what I wanted. Brides are under so much pressure to be perfect when really you just need to focus on finding a dress you feel comfortable in and it what you want, not what anyone else has talked you in to! Its up to you if you want to have Star Wars shoes and a multicoloured dress - its your day, make it yours and make it special to you!

If your're looking for something a little different to whats in Bridal shops then the high street has some fab offerings! Here's my faves below!

Be sure to check out the Rock N Roll Bride x Crown & Glory collab for veils- just launched last Monday. I've popped the video of them below as well so you can see he whole collection.

Omg, I wish I could get married again just to have one of these!! Think I would of definitely got one, the pom pom one is my fave :)

I knew I wanted a really colourful wedding so I asked my guests to dress as colourfuly (if thats a word!) as poss. I hate it when people wear black at wedding unless this is part of the theme. Unless gothic glam is your theme then I kinda don't get it, weddings should be bright and colourful! :)

I went for a rainbow wedding theme which sort of also evolved in to a midsummer nights dream! The decorating guys who did the lanterns on the ceiling described it as a midsummer nights dream on acid!

I am very lucky to have some wonderful colleagues who helped me design invites, lent me a tipi, did my henna & helped me put the hall together that I had booked for a reception after the wedding which looked exactly how I had imagined!

The weather to start the day was really misty but set the scene really well and made it look magical! It brightened up later to be a gorgeous autumn day!.

For the dress I knew I didn't want anything too princessy as wanted something I could run about n dance in without feelin to pressured to just sit n look perfect all day.

Luckliy, boho goddesses Free People had just launched a wedding collection full of beautiful yet easy to wear dresses. I love this dress as it has shorts on underneath and has gorgeous indian style beading which went perfectly with my henna!

I also didn't want a traditional veil as feel they can be crazy expensive and didn't feel like they were very me, I drew up some inspiration from The Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty expo I attended in the summer and went for some amazing antlers instead. I found Kelly Eden who makes these incredible antler headbands on instagram and got these sent over from LA. <3

I had a backup floral & gold coin crown as well for the evening as the antlers were to heavy for dancing & wore my Shoava shawl throughout the day & then my Not your baby leather dinosaur jacket for the evening.
