Wanderlust:When in Rome...

For the final leg of our honeymoon, we headed up to Rome for 3 nights.

Rome I would prob say is definitely best for a short stay city break place, hence why we only gave ourselfs the last part of the week here. If you are able to get central accommodation everywhere is pretty easy to get to within reach, apart from the Vatican - The only thing I would suggest if you are going here is it is a fair way away from the nearest tube and you must be prepared for a very long que! We were totally unprepared for this and ended up waiting in the pouring rain for 3 hours to get inside and got soaked!  

We stayed at the Hotel Romano, a cute boutique hotel just 5 mins walk from the Colosseum and the Roman forum! If you want a hotel with a good central location in Rome then look no further than this one! The staff were lovely and accommodating and made our room all honeymooney with flowers and prosecco too :) Right outside the doorstep are plenty of wonderful pizzarias and restaurants which is perfect if you just want to eat in the evening and roll in to bed after a long day exploring! :)

Wanderlust: Exploring Pompei

After we left the calm paradise of Sorrento, we took a short train ride north to visit the ruin of the ancient city, Pompei.

For those of you who may not know about Pompei, Pompei was mostly destroyed and buried under 13-20ft of ash in the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.

Everything still has been very well preserved for all this time, including objects and mummified people due to the lack of air and  moisture. Its a fascinating place to visit!  Def remember to take good walking shoes as it is a large place and very rocky in areas!

• Good Time to Visit: Sept - Oct - still busy but less crowded & still good weather. Very easy to reach by train from Naples or Sorrento. - Just 20 mins from Sorrento.
• Take with you: A bottle of water and wear comfy walking shoes - absolute must!
• Guided Tour? - It is offered, not free, worth taking up if you want to learn many things. we didn't and I feel we prob mised a few interesting stuff cus there are no boards to read to explain what a building used to be or anything.
• Good to know: You cannot eat inside, have a big breakfast before visiting or eat from one of the stalls outside the city. If you bought luggage with you as we did, there is a handy luggage drop-off area underneath the train station in front of the city walls - only 3 euros per bag.

Wanderlust: Postcards from Sorrento..

Hii all!

I am back from honeymoon and the wedding - with serious post holiday blues! Have been abit naff at blogging lately (soz) as have been really busy but hoping to get back in to the fashion game to cure my sadness that I've just returned from Italy, which was so lovely and warm, to the UK which feels like its nose-dived in temperature since we've been away. Our wedding was a fairly warm day too, and a sunny one!

Will have to well and truly sort out my wardrobe, put my suitcase away and get back in to A/W style!

I'm now snuggled under my blanket with the heating on waiting for the new series of the Apprentice to start. *sigh* Take me back to italy now!

These are some snapshots of the first part of our honeymoon in Sorrento. Would recommend to anyone wanting a escape from it all that isn't too far from the UK. You can really relax here as well as have the option to explore if you wish :) this time round we were so shattered we stayed in the town the whole three days and chilled out before moving on to a visit to Pompeii and the Rome - will feature these in the coming weeks.

We stayed at the beautiful Grand Hotel Riviera, overlooking the gulf of Naples and volcano Vesuvius.
